The Global Solutions Forum aims to promote procedures and best practices, expand networks among Emory colleagues supporting and implementing global activities, and provide space to discuss creative solutions and collaborative approaches to the challenges of global work.

April 17, 2024, Global Services hosted a series of online panel discussions on topics including regulatory considerations for global work; global staffing; foreign payments; planning for international visitors; managing currency fluctuations; safety and security for global activities; and Emory’s Indian entity. You can view the agenda below for reference.

  • 9:30am - 10:15am: "Navigating a Changing Regulatory Landscape for Emory’s Global Work"
    • This sessions will explore key regulatory developments affecting Emory’s global work, highlighting how to navigate changes and mitigate risks.
  • 10:30am - 11:15am: "Hiring Abroad: Considerations and Procedures for Work and Hiring Outside the US"
    • This session will highlight Emory’s considerations and procedures for work and hiring outside the US
  • 11:30am - 12:15pm: "Global Engagement Planning: Considerations for Visitors and Foreign Payments"
    • This session will discuss the immigration, tax, and compliance considerations for paying and hosting foreign visitors at Emory as well as making payments to vendors and partners abroad.
  • 1:00pm - 1:45pm: "Managing Currency Fluctuations on Global Projects"
    • This session explores considerations for managing and mitigating foreign currency risk on global projects.
  • 2:00pm - 2:45pm: "Global Safety and Security"
    • This session highlights Emory’s global safety and security resources and procedures, and exploring key areas of safety and security concern as it relates to Emory’s global work.
  • 3:00pm - 3:30pm: "Insurance and Global Activities"
    • This session is focused on updates related to Emory’s non-benefit insurance policies and insurance considerations for global activities.
  • 4:00pm - 4:45pm: "Overseas Entities: Spotlight on Emory’s Indian Entity"
    • This session will overview Emory’s entity in India including highlights of its creation, lessons learned, best practices for future entities, and outlook for the future.
