Tyler Askew
Tyler Askew is Assistant Director of International Student and Scholar Sevices (ISSS) in the Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives. In this role, he works with international students, scholars, and administrators regarding federal immigration and employment regulations, Emory resources, and related matters. Prior to starting at Emory, Tyler worked as an International Student Advisor in the International Office at Georgia State University.
Tyler first became interested in international education when studying abroad in Florence, Italy. After finishing his undergraduate degree, he spent a year in Budapest, Hungary as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant. Tyler firmly believes that cross-cultural exchange has the power to foster mutual understanding. He is convinced that the unique perspectives and experiences of international students and scholars enhance Emory University’s pursuit of academic excellence and are one of the most valuable aspects of the Emory community.
Born and raised in Tennessee, Tyler originally moved to Atlanta to pursue his M.A. in Theological Studies from Emory’s Candler School of Theology. Tyler also holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Wake Forest University.
