Joan Lindsey

Joan Lindsey is a Senior Advisor for International Student and Scholar Sevices (ISSS) in the Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives. In this role, she works with international students, scholars, and administrators regarding federal immigration and employment regulations, Emory resources, and related matters. 

Joan has been responsible for all areas of immigration advising to students and scholars during the past 32 years. Prior to coming to Emory, she worked at Western Kentucky advising international students there for 11 years. She spent 4 years as director of the international house at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and 3 years advising international student and scholars and directing international admissions at the University of Missouri Kansas City.

After teaching music for 5 years, Joan took a job at Western Kentucky University in the international student affairs office where she discovered her love for working with international students and scholars.

Joan earned her B.A. in psychology and M.A. in education focusing on counseling and international education from Western Kentucky University.
