Sylvain Chabra

Sylvain Chabra is an International Student and Scholar Advisor for International Student and Scholar Sevices (ISSS) in the Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives. In this role, he works with international students, scholars, and administrators regarding federal immigration and employment regulations, Emory resources, and related matters.

Prior to starting at Emory, Sylvain worked at the University of South Carolina where he first taught French before moving on to International student recruitment and eventually International Student Services. His focus there was employment and support as well as cultural programming. Sylvain was the ISSS Representative for the South Carolina Association of International Educators and has presented numerous sessions and workshops about Immigration and Programs for International Student Services at both SCAIE and NAFSA (the Association for International Educators) regional and national conferences.

Originally from Normandy, France, Sylvain earned a B.A. and M.A. in English and American Literature and History at the University of Caen and studied abroad in the UK. Upon earning an M.A. in Foreign Language Pedagogy at the University of Delaware, he moved to Columbia, South Carolina.
