Emory faculty are working in more than 140 countries worldwide. Many of these activities began organically through individual faculty collaborations, which facilitate fruitful partnerships at the individual level. However, this ad hoc approach can also result in missed opportunities for Emory due to lack of awareness or untapped networks. The Global Strategy Development Taskforce identified opportunities for Emory to maximize its impact abroad in five geographic focal points that are particularly ripe for engagement. These locations are aligned with Emory's mission and strengths and increase its ability to expand global activity in the future.
Each location has a unique profile of engagement, ranging from teaching and research to development and from admissions to alumni relations. The Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives works to identify and strengthen institutional partnerships in these locations; Global Services establishes and maintains country-specific contacts and resources to ease the logistical aspects of setting up and running projects, and The Halle Institute facilitates the direct exchange of ideas between scholars there and here.
